The Story Of Jack
A few weeks ago a client was sitting in his car in my lot and called me to tell me there was a kitten in the parking lot! I could not believe this little creature was hidden away in the bushes close to the road.
Over the next 2 days I left food and water and created a shelter for the little kitten. It was very skittish and ran whenever I got too close so I was very careful when approaching it's hiding place.

I started asking folks if there was anyone who rescues or fosters kittens and low and behold Kay Neal was a foster mom from Whiskers Tails and Ferals just a mile away.

I had a dream on the second night and the name Jack came to me. I did not know if the baby was male or female yet somehow Jack seemed to fit this spirit.(How it got there no one knows!)

With the help of my Husband we trapped "Jack" and Kay came and took the baby home. That afternoon I called Kay and she said" I was just going to call you! This is the sweetest kitten I have ever held".(and it was a boy!) I had thought since it was so skittish when we caught it that it would be wild. She said from the moment she picked it up it has not stopped purring!

I have 3 cats so there was no way I could introduce another one to my family without causing trauma.

The first person I talked to about Jack immediately, without hesitation said..."I will take him" and the rest is history as they say.

I write this story this Thanks Giving 2022 because I realize that embracing and caring for one tiny spirit enriches and adds so much love in my life.

In support of all creatures I ask you to think about adopting a living light this year.

Cynthia loves to play dress up and wasn't sure about dressing a boy kitten up. I told her I think there are cute boy clothes and she ran with that one! Enjoy this evolution in real time! She says he gives kisses and that just melts my heart!

That Jack certainly is a handsome boy!  There looks to be wisdom on his face and in his eyes and I was not surprised to read that he is a purrer.  Nice to have the story have such a happy ending. V

Best Thanksgiving Ever! Thank you for sharing and being YOU. As always, your heart is full of the fullest love and compassion.
One of my clients wrote me this morning to let me know they had to put their 3 year old golden lab to sleep yesterday. We had just cleaned their house on Tuesday and I knew they were concerned he wasn't feeing well. Of course, my heart was broken. 
I wrote them a loving response and something led me to open your email, next. Your precious Jack story lifted my heart to another level and I knew there was definitely some Joy and Hope to hold onto. That's going to be my focus today.

What a wonderful story. I volunteer weekly at the Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch in Napa and we do rescues also—of all kinds of cats, dogs, horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, etc. And I also got a new baby boy kitty from there awhile ago. His name is Wiscky!! Thank you for saving this darling little fellow!

I LOVE this story.  Bravo to you & Gary, Kay and Cynthia!  Makes my heart so happy.  What a cutie that little Jack is!!
Think of you often and wish I could visit more.  I've been so busy w/work.  My job is physically hard but I enjoy being around kids again and of course, feeding them!  Also, I love the school breaks, summer most of all.  No other job has a 10-week break June - August!!
I MISS you so.  Will be in Napa the weekend before Christmas and will stop by to say hello.

Join Up
"Join up is a method of bonding with a horse through body language and positioning. According to some, this is part of learning to 'speak horse'. Body position and eye contact are used to send the horse away from the handler, and eventually to invite the horse to approach."

This term touched me the first time I watched it happen on a TV series I recommend called "Heartland."

The intimate and loving connection between this family and their horses is a living example and microcosm of the world itself.

Microcosm means a community, place, or situation regarded as encapsulating in miniature the characteristic qualities or features of something much larger.

We are all living in these tiny circles that have gotten smaller with this universal concern.

This time in history is a lesson in Horse Wisdom.
Practicing the concept of Join Up seems like something humans need to incorporate in our lives today. Give each other space to move forward or away without judgement.

CHILD IN PARIS
I have never been to Paris.

As a child in Northern Ontario, Canada, I lived through 6 months of intense winter (50 below at times) in an imaginary world of my own creation in my huge walk-in closet.

I would decorate the room in colors and clothing and play with my dolls imagining places around the world. Paris filled me with glittering night life and walks around exciting museums.

I have never left that inner dream world and it is still my safe place to this day.

The state of the world today is traumatic and disturbing so I try to remain in my "creative closet" most of the day!

My Paris Series is filled with bright moving color. It started with one sweet face, and keeps developing.

I invite you to come walk the streets of Paris in your mind and join me for a latte in morning light.

The past 6 months my spirit has been filled with promise and excitement each morning as I raced into the gallery to paint a new vision.

Right now, my tender, disquieted heart is overflowing with tears. This country was first inhabited with Indian Tribes devoted to saving the earth and honoring the seasons.

Our history is being tested as we reach out with banners and protest the injustice of lives lost. It has taken me to a place of grave concern and consternation.

Where do we go from here? How do we heal the wounds as far back as the original settlers on this land?

I am reaching out to YOU today and would love to hear your thoughts. I yearn for a peace-filled planet, yet right now, for the first time in months, my soul sits sadly mourning this moment in history.

The painting above came as a surprise. It started with a daytime landscape and ended with a buffalo moon,and stars in the shape of a buffalo, and a tent with an eagle lighting the way.

The World is in turmoil, not only from an inner virus, also from the outer virus,
The universal cry is for Equality for all Humankind.

This painting came the week before the global outcry about racial inequality.

I was raised in a small town in Canada. My only knowledge of the African American culture came from the beautiful photos of my father, who spent World War 11 as a doctor in Africa tending to the sick. I loved the peace I saw on the villager's faces and the laughter in the children's eyes.

When I moved to the United States in 1965, I was shocked by the outright prejudice toward of the Black community.

My first gallery exhibition and series focused on the amazing spirits of the women of Africa.

My Soul is aching for the world to calm down and heal and yet, I understand the anger and sorrow felt by the injustice all around.

My Prayer today is to look to the future in our hearts and see the univere healed and happy and aligned with the grandeur and magnificent beauty we are blessed to experience.

We are the light and we really need to shine right now!
