Zelda is a fused glass artist from Napa, California who has worked with fused glass since 2002. In prior years she found joy in artistic mediums such as pottery and sculpture however it wasn't until she began exploring with the interplay of light and textures in fused glass that Zelda found her niche and her love of nature.
Her first piece of fused glass was born out of a simple vision of a single tree swaying in the wind upon a hilltop. That first finished piece resonated deep within her. With each new piece she took the theme of trees as her focal point exploring variations of color, textures, the changing seasons and the emotion that they emanate.
While exhibiting at an art show in Brentwood California Zelda was invited by a producer of HGTV to be featured on its television program "Isn’t That Clever" to demonstrate her unique approach to working with fused glass. The producer had told her at hat she had seen a lot of fused glass but never had she seen anyone work with it in such a manner.
In May of 2008 Zelda was featured as an "Emerging Artist" at the American Craft Retailers Expo. Not only was it her first time as an exhibitor at a trade show but more significantly it represented the launch of her career as an artist after 30 years as a teacher and counselor with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Zelda in now living her dream as a full time artist and businesswoman. Her fused glass is displayed in several Galleries such as, Jessel Gallery in Napa, CA. Magazine Uno Alla Volta, Topeo Gallery Pa, Arts and Artisans Chicago Il, Sorella Gallery Ut, Swede Things Nj just to name a few. Her new mantra in life...
