According to some, this is part of learning to 'speak horse'. Body position and eye contact are used to send the horse away from the handler, and eventually to invite the horse to approach." This term touched me the first time I watched it happen on a TV series I recommend called "Heartland." The intimate and loving connection between this family and their horses is a living example and microcosm of the world itself. Microcosm means a community, place, or situation regarded as encapsulating in miniature the characteristic qualities or features of something much larger. We are all living in these tiny circles that have gotten smaller with this universal concern. This time in history is a lesson in Horse Wisdom. Practicing the concept of Join Up seems like something humans need to incorporate in our lives today. Give each other space to move forward or away without judgement. Jessel Process Page Let's Join Up! CHILD IN PARIS I have never been to Paris. As a child in Northern Ontario, Canada, I lived through 6 months of intense winter (50 below at times) in an imaginary world of my own creation in my huge walk-in closet. I would decorate the room in colors and clothing and play with my dolls imagining places around the world. Paris filled me with glittering night life and walks around exciting museums. I have never left that inner dream world and it is still my safe place to this day. The state of the world today is traumatic and disturbing so I try to remain in my "creative closet" most of the day! My Paris Series is filled with bright moving color. It started with one sweet face, and keeps developing. I invite you to come walk the streets of Paris in your mind and join me for a latte in morning light. ~ Jessel Method Jessel Process Page I am now teaching a (3 person maximum) Acrylic Painting Class by Appointment. $75.00 per person. I will pick a winner of the most moving works each month and send a gift of one of my new works on a Journal. I look forward to hearing from YOU. Share YOUR creative writing The past 6 months my spirit has been filled with promise and excitement each morning as I raced into the gallery to paint a new vision. Right now, my tender, disquieted heart is overflowing with tears. This country was first inhabited with Indian Tribes devoted to saving the earth and honoring the seasons. Our history is being tested as we reach out with banners and protest the injustice of lives lost. It has taken me to a place of grave concern and consternation. Where do we go from here? How do we heal the wounds as far back as the original settlers on this land? I am reaching out to YOU today and would love to hear your thoughts. I yearn for a peace-filled planet, yet right now, for the first time in months, my soul sits sadly mourning this moment in history. The painting above came as a surprise. It started with a daytime landscape and ended with a buffalo moon, and stars in the shape of a buffalo, and a tent with an eagle lighting the way. The process page reveals my journey to this painting's end. Buffalo Moon & Eagle Nights The World is in turmoil, not only from an inner virus, also from the outer virus, The universal cry is for Equality for all Humankind. This painting came the week before the global outcry about racial inequality. I was raised in a small town in Canada. My only knowledge of the African American culture came from the beautiful photos of my father, who spent World War 11 as a doctor in Africa tending to the sick. I loved the peace I saw on the villager's faces and the laughter in the children's eyes. When I moved to the United States in 1965, I was shocked by the outright prejudice toward of the Black community. My first gallery exhibition and series focused on the amazing spirits of the women of Africa. My Soul is aching for the world to calm down and heal and yet, I understand the anger and sorrow felt by the injustice all around. My Prayer today is to look to the future in our hearts and see the univere healed and happy and aligned with the grandeur and magnificent beauty we are blessed to experience. We are the light and we really need to shine right now! Mayor Jill Techel shares this reminder with us: “We can only begin to heal as a community and as a nation by listening, by hearing, and by understanding. We must face adversity by facing it together and by finding strength and love in each other.” Jessel Gallery Appreciates YOUR continued Support

NEW JESSEL PRODUCTS PRODUCED BY FINE ART AMERICA Shower Curtain, T-shirt, Mug many other products available I feel that in memory of the American Indian Culture my heart needed to honor the souls of the Native Americans who lived in the Napa Valley. The symbol on the child's headdress represents the Thunderbird. Thunderbird signifies unlimited happiness. May it bring the same to you. This piece reminds me of the first painting I did when I landed at this location 35 years ago. I had painted faces for 15 years and needed a break. On a giant piece of watercolor paper, I splashed color across the 40"x 60" image and called it "Indian Dreams." From the moment I moved into this building, I have felt the spirits of the Wappo Indians. The Gallery was across the street from what was once Vichy Springs and seems a likely place for the original settlers in this area. A Little Napa Valley History Wappo villages were led by a chief, male or female, who was chosen for life. The villages were usually located along creeks, and were composed of oval grass-thatched houses. They were generally very peaceful, except for occasional warfare with the Pomo and struggles against Spanish incursions in the Napa Valley. The name Napa was probably derived from the name given to a southern Nappan (meaning "Fairy Valley") Indian Village whose people shared the area with elk, deer, grizzlies and panthers for many centuries. I believe the earth is holy and precious around me and just like this child, it holds the secrets of generations past, present and future. I honor the earth with this painting. I am now making products from images of my new work. Check it out
